Nature’s Way – Monterey Cypress print with double mat

$39.00$129.00

Arts & Crafts revival artist Julie Leidel painted Nature’s Way after a visit to Monterey 5 years ago, capturing a lone cypress tree above the rocky Pacific coastline. The Monterey cypress tree is one of several species of cypress trees native to California.  The trees can be found naturally only on the Central Coast of California, but range as far south as Santa Barbara and north to Mendocino.

Julie’s matted giclée print reproductions are printed on high-quality Epson matte presentation paper. The double mat is black with a white core over off-white matting on the inner mat.

Description

Julie Leidel’s artwork evokes a feeling of yesteryear and connects to our memories of the natural beauty that surrounds us. She strives to creatively translate the landscape, architecture, animals, and written word into artwork for the Craftsman home. Julie has been painting for more than 30 years, but found her muse in the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880-1920) sixteen years ago.  She is a self described Roycroft Renaissance Artisan.  The Roycroft was a communal arts, business and crafts colony founded in East Aurora, NY in 1895 by Elbert Hubbard.  It was one of several utopian societies that formed during the Arts and Crafts Movement in response to the shoddy, factory-made goods and soullessness of the Industrial Age.

MONTEREY CALIFORNIA

Monterey is a city on California’s rugged central coast. Its Cannery Row, one-time center of the sardine-packing industry, was immortalized by novelist John Steinbeck. Today, it’s a popular strip of gift shops, seafood restaurants and bars in converted factories. Also famous is Monterey Bay Aquarium, with thousands of marine animals and plants on display in underwater and interactive exhibits.
